TANK INSULATION

TANK INSULATION

WARNING-PRICES SHOWN ARE 2006 CURRENTLY BEING UPDATED

SPECIFICATION

TANK SHELLS
insulated with Glassfibre, Rockfibre, 'Nilflam' isocyanurate or 'Foamglas' cellular glass secured at approx 600mm centres with 19mm wide stainless steel banding and seals. Insulation clad in flat or profiled metal sheeting overlapped and secured with cadmium plated 'sela' drill screws at 300mm centres or monel aluminium pop rivets at 150mm centres. Weatherproofing is achieved with application of non hardening mastic, at all joints. After lagging and cladding, spring loaded 50mm x 0.9mm thick wide stainless steel tension bands are fitted at approx. 1200mm centres.

TANK ROOFS insulated as above, located onto M.S. welded lagging rings. At top periphery of tank (joint of roof/shell), a flashing curb strip is rivetted and mastic sealed.

Where tank roofs are to support personnel traffic, insulation material selected must be high density (140kg/M3) 'crush proof'. Cladding material must be flat, i.e. not corrugated.

MANWAYS AND NOZZLES. Insulation and cladding sheets are neatly cut back, rivetted and mastic sealed with collars fitted. Removable manway 'boxes' can be supplied (as detailed).

LAGGING RINGS. To support insulation materials it is important for shell and roof top rings to suit thickness and weight to be provided by tank fabricator. Shell rings are generally 50 x 50 x 6 RSA 150mm up from tank base, at top of shell and at approx. 4m intervals. Tank top rings 250mm inwards from periphery, 1500mm centre ring and at 1500mm centres in between. Tank fabricator should weld rings to suit above. Prices will be quoted on request,

SCAFFOLDING. To apply insulation, safe access platforms are necessary. Prices for erection and dismantling are listed in price table 'C' overleaf, applicable to single tank contracts. Where a number of tanks are to be insulated at the same time, scaffolding costs will reduce.

SURFACE PREPARATION. Stainless steel tanks require no preparation. Carbon steel tanks should be primer painted before insulation is fitted. No intermediate or finish coats are necessary.

FINISH COLOURS. 'Plastisol' polyester coated cladding sheets can be supplied in a range of architectural colours. Sample colours will be provided on request.

HEAT LOSS CALCULATIONS
INTEG are equipped to undertake heating calculations to ascertain heat losses, heating power required for any particular duty. We need to know for each tank the following characteristics: Contents, Specific heat, Specific gravity, Tank location, Storage temperature desired, Ambient temperature, heat up rate required and heating method prefered i.e. electric immersion, internal coil, limpet or external panel jacket. At nominal cost, INTEG will provide calculations to assist in selection of economical heating method and insulation requirement. Consult INTEG.

INSULATION PRICE
Prices tabled below are intended as guides to cost for insulation of erected tanks. To arrive at costings first select type and thickness of insulation and type of cladding required. Prices per square metre of area to be insulated are show below. If in any doubt, or when detailed quotation is required - call INTEG.
