Corrosion attack is the most common cause of tank and vessel deterioration and often remains undetected until leakage occurs. With the latest ultrasonic systems Integ engineers analyse tank plates and report on residual plate thickness and structural strength. Surveys of this sort are often carried out with the tank still in service as single side access is only required for ultrasonic thickness checks. If tank internals are to be investigated then current gas free certification will be required to be provided by client.

MERITRONICS DECIMIL ULTRASONIC METER - to determine plate thickness DYE PENETRANT TESTING - to investigate suspect plate or cracked welds WELDING INSTITUTE STANDARD GAUGE to determine pitting depth and weld sizes DUO-CHECK ELECTRONIC COATING THICKNESS GAUGE - for paint thickness checks Survey results are fully documented and presented as three copies of a bound report normally within seven days of survey date. Full dimensional surveys can also be carried out on tanks, vessels, fittings and attachments with the results presented as a fully dimensioned CAD drawing and report. We prefer to work on a quoted lump sum basis inclusive of all costs but can quote on an hourly rate basis if required. Typical types of survey are listed below:
Random ultra sonic plate thickness checks on a grid basis of base, shell & roof for vertical tanks subject to access provided by client. A similar approach is adopted for horizontal and rectangular tanks, if the survey identifies any suspect areas these are subjected to more detailed investigation to determine fitness for purpose and the need for any remedial work. Tank fittings, attachments and access facilities are also visually surveyed for functionality and condition.
A full dimensional survey of tanks can be carried out in conjunction with the condition survey. All main dimensions are taken plus location and details of fittings and attachments.
Clients considering the purchase of second hand tanks may wish to determine condition and dimensional details of prior to procurement decision. Relocation and modification costs can also be estimated to determine overall potential capital expenditure.
When it is proposed to use existing tanks for higher Specific Gravity products or at increased design pressures for vapour containment / recovery then Integ can assist by making a full assessment. Initially a condition and thickness survey is carried out then calculations are run to the relevant design code to determine the feasibility of the proposed changes.
Site plant & pipework layouts change due to evolutionary modifications and proposed developments. Integ engineers can survey your existing plant and produce CAD layout drawings. These drawing can be held on disk and are easily modified to reflect future or proposed layout ideas.
